Research Interests

We are a theoretical and computational group interested in the understanding and engineering multifunctional nanomaterials that have close collaborations with different experimental groups. We develop and apply both first-principles calculations based on density-functional theory and phenomenological theoretical models to study various intriguing materials properties. Most recently, we focus on topological materials and various novel functional materials for their possible application in next-generation electronics and spintronics. Below are selected a few directions that we currently work on
1:Exploring two-dimensional metal-organic and covalent-organic frameworks for their exotic quantum states and intriguing applications, e.g., various topological quantum states and topological flat bands related special properties.
2: Searching high various spin Hall and anomalous Hall materials and studying their possible applications in high-performance spintronic devices, e.g., understanding the correlation between Berry curvature and various anomalous Hall effect to design materials with high anomalous Hall conductivity.
3: Fundamental understanding of various multi-functional quantum materials for their promising application in electronics, e.g., two-dimensional ferroelectric materials for electronic switching or topological materials for field-free magnetic switching.

Postdoc is expected to conduct highly independent research in the general area of theoretical and computational condensed matter physics and materials science, and encouraged to work on research topics of his/her own interest.
We also welcome strongly motivated undergraduate students to join for research projects.
